Berry Protein Smoothie Bowl

My fitness center has finally reopened since Quarantine went into full-effect & I AM SO EXCITED!!

While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my home workouts, I know incorporating weight training to my weekly routine is about to kick my progress up a whole 10 notches. #CantStopWontStop ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Since I started training- for real, for real– I often find myself craving a cold & nourishing “something” post workouts to fill me up & cool me down. So! Today I decided to try a smoothie bowl- packed with fiber, vitamins & antioxidants. As usual, I like to make things quick & easy with as minimal clean up as possible. And smoothies are just that- plus they’re a great way to sneak in veggies & weird tasting protein powders. #HealthHack!

Today’s smoothie is a berry mixture- obviously the main tool needed is a blender. If you already have one, you’re good to go! If you don’t, this is the one I own & it’s amazing (Thx Titi Elsie, ILY!).

SO! To start this smoothie off right- I first add my favorite yogurt (it’s made by Yoplait- packed with protein, tastes a million times better than greek yogurt & keeps me feeling full longer). This yogurt is super rich & creamy, and it really helps blend all the fruits together nicely. Next I add raspberry protein powder (I use this one) to sneak in extra gainzzz! I don’t exactly looooove this flavor, but I bought it a while ago & at this point I’m just looking for ways to finish it off.

I also added a handful of strawberries because they’re great for the heart & increases HDL levels (good cholesterol). I absolutely LOVE blackberries, they contain Vitamin K- which promotes good bone health & nourishes gut health. It’s also a low-carb fruit & I’m all about low-carb anything– so I threw that in the blender as well. One banana- because it’s a great source of Vitamin C, Potassium (promoting good heart health) & contributes to lowering blood pressure. So, sure! Why not! And lastly, some peanut butter- because it’s a good fat, suppresses my appetite & maintains strong bones. And ya know, I’m not getting any younger so….. I need all the bone & heart support I can get. NOW.
